Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Peptoidchatbot platform, including our WordPress plugin, hosted dashboard, and APIs (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Peptoidprovides an AI-powered customer service chatbot that operators install on their own WooCommerce/WordPress sites. The Service indexes the operator's site content and uses large language models (currently Anthropic's Claude family) to answer end-visitor questions.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to bind the business you represent. Use of the Service for sites that violate Anthropic's, OpenAI's, or our own usage policies (see Section 7) will result in suspension.

3. Subscriptions and billing

  • Plans, pricing, and conversation limits are listed at /pricing.
  • Billing is handled by Stripe. You authorize Peptoid to charge the payment method on file at the start of each billing period (monthly).
  • Free trials, when offered, automatically convert to paid subscriptions at the trial's end unless you cancel beforehand.
  • You may cancel at any time via the Stripe Customer Portal in your dashboard. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period unless you elect immediate cancellation.

4. Usage limits

The Service enforces three caps:

  • A monthly conversation cap based on your plan tier.
  • A 20-message ceiling per conversation.
  • A 40-message-per-month ceiling per individual visitor identity.

These caps protect operator costs against runaway or abusive usage. Operators on higher tiers may request higher per-visitor caps in writing.

5. Operator responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the lawfulness of the content indexed from your site and shown to your visitors.
  • You must disclose to your visitors that they are interacting with an automated assistant. The widget shows this by default; do not modify it to claim otherwise.
  • You must comply with all applicable laws, including consumer protection, privacy, advertising, and (if applicable) industry-specific regulations governing the products you sell.
  • You are responsible for any custom answers, restrictions, and sales flows you configure.

6. License key and plugin

  • Each license key authorizes installation on the registered domain only.
  • License keys are personal to your account and may not be shared, sublicensed, or resold.
  • The plugin is licensed under GPL v2 or later, consistent with WordPress plugin distribution norms. The hosted Service and AI inference is proprietary and provided under these Terms.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to:

  • Bypass our caps, rate limits, or authentication.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the system prompts or model behavior.
  • Index content that infringes third-party rights or violates law.
  • Use the chatbot to provide medical, legal, financial, or therapeutic advice.
  • Use the Service for sites primarily targeting children under 13.
  • Send spam, harassment, or misleading content through lead capture or webhook integrations.

8. Service availability and AI behavior

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted Service. AI responses are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or unexpected outputs. You agree that we are not liable for the content of any AI-generated message; you remain responsible for the accuracy of the underlying site content and the appropriateness of any custom answers you configure.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, or abuse. Upon termination, your sites are deactivated and conversations are retained per the Privacy Policy schedule.

10. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of your site content. Peptoid retains ownership of the platform, the plugin code, prompts, and any improvements derived from aggregated, anonymized usage. We do not claim rights over chat messages exchanged through the Service.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES ABOUT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF AI-GENERATED CONTENT.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PEPTOID'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Peptoid harmless from any claims arising out of (a) the content you index, (b) your configurations and customizations, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of applicable law.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email and a notice on the dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION TBD by counsel]. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction.
